Kaieteur Falls: Hidden gems in unexpected places!

Kaieteur Falls is truly a breathtaking natural wonder. Its immense height and powerful flow make it a standout among the world's waterfalls. The combination of its impressive height—226 meters (741 feet) from the drop and 251 meters (822 feet) when considering the cascades—and its tremendous flow rate of 663 cubic meters per second (23,400 cubic feet per second) places it among the most powerful waterfalls globally.

Located on the Potaro River in Kaieteur National Park, Guyana, the falls are about four and a half times taller than Niagara Falls and twice as tall as Victoria Falls. The surrounding scenery, including the Potaro Plateau and the Pakaraima Mountains, adds to the dramatic beauty of the area.

The Potaro River, which feeds Kaieteur Falls, eventually flows into the Essequibo River, Guyana's longest river and the 34th longest in South America.
