Tennicia Nekeita De Freitas (born December 10) is a Guyanese singer and performer known for her contributions to calypso and other musical genres.
Tennicia was born in Kuru-Kururu, a village on the Linden Highway, East Bank of Demerara. She grew up in her grandmother's house and faced challenges in her early years, including not knowing her father and watching her mother work hard to support the family. Tennicia attended nursery and primary school in Kuru-Kururu, where she discovered her passion for dancing and singing.
In 2003, Tennicia graduated from primary school and attended Christ Church Secondary. Her singing talent was first recognized during a Father's Day service at her church, where her performance received positive feedback. Encouraged by her church leaders, she entered and won a teen talent competition among local churches.
In 2004, Tennicia participated in a competition hosted by an artist from Kross Kolor Records. Although she did not place, her voice impressed Mr. Burchmore Simon, the manager of Kross Kolor Records. He decided to mentor her and signed her to the label, making her the youngest member of the Kross Kolor family.

In 2005, Tennicia released her first single, "You Like The Way," on the "Wine Till Yuh Drop" album. She went on to win the Children's Calypso competition from 2006 to 2008. In 2007, she was the first runner-up in the Miss Guyana Talented Teen pageant, also winning the best talent prize. Later that year, she represented Guyana in the Digicel Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen pageant in St. Kitts and Nevis, where she won the prize for best ambassadorial appearance.
In 2009, Tennicia entered the junior category of the calypso competition and placed third. She continued to build her reputation and in 2010, she won the National HIV & AIDS song competition in Guyana and the Junior Calypso Monarch title with her song "Don't Want to Be Born."
