Don J: The Guyanese Music Sensation"

Don J, born Don Johnson on August 16, 1990, in Georgetown, Guyana, is a rising star in the music industry. Hailing from a musical family and raised in North Ruimveldt, he is the son of Ian Johnson, a renowned Guyanese musician, manager, producer, and businessman who owns The Dynamix Recording label. 

Don J's musical journey began at the age of 12 when he started working at his father's "Everything Music & Electronics" business in Georgetown. This establishment also housed a recording studio on the top floor, where he spent countless hours after school. While most teenagers were navigating the challenges of puberty, Don was balancing family, music, work, and school. He watched in awe as his father composed songs and conducted sessions with aspiring musicians and singers, many of whom would go on to become some of Guyana's biggest musical names. These moments were the catalyst for Don's deep passion for music.

At just 17 years old, Don J made a bold move by sneaking into his father's vacant recording studio one night and recording his debut song, "If This Is Love." He received assistance from his mentor and friend, "Spida Man," known for his hit "Party Time" at the time.

Don J's talent and dedication set him apart from his peers. While still attending high school, he organized talent shows like "Hip-Hop Factory" and collaborated with his father on successful productions like "Talent Exclusive" and "Watz Hott," which became well-known in Guyana.

As he gained experience, Don J had the privilege of working with numerous Guyanese artists, including "Fojo D Artiste," "Shelly G," "Spida and The Fire Clan Band," "JB," "Timothy Vantull," and others. He served as a co-producer and arranger at Dynamix Records, further honing his skills. By the age of 20, he took on the role of manager at the label.

Today, Don J is ready to step into the spotlight as a performer, offering a unique and authentic brand of music characterized by his distinctive approach, sound, style, and delivery. His journey in the music industry is a testament to his deep-rooted connection to music and his commitment to creating music that resonates with audiences on a profound level.
